    Mounting guard rails is a snap! All IntelliStage platforms come standard with pre-marked and semi-drilled holes so if you decide to add guard rails, all you do is drill holes in the pre-marked templates found on the platforms and mount your guard rails with specially designed mounting screws.

    Sturdy handrail that is perfect to help get people up and onto the stage safely. My only complaint is that the hole isn't predrilled on the step we purchased and so now I need to drill a hole into the step. It is marked and I am told exactly where to drill BUT it is a step I don't want to screw up by doing it wrong and I don't think it would have been hard for someone in the StageDrop warehouse to knock the hole out for us and send it to us drilled vs putting that on the buyer. My 2 cents and my only negative about the railing (and step system as we received it).

    Not as sturdy as I'd like or easy to install. Helpful item but really not necessary and am wondering how well it will hold up over time.

    Good and bad!
    The guard rail itself is fine. The problem is that the integrated bracket that attaches it to the steps is not. The space in the bracket is slightly too wide and does not make for a snug fit. Additionally, the bump out of the vertical tube continues down into the bracket. This causes the bracket not to fit tight against the sides of the step and it results in the guard rail twisting (rotating) about a 1/4" in each direction and not giving the user a secure feel as they grab the guard rail to climb the steps. We had to wedge material into the sides and tighten the mounting bolt using a rubber mallet to whack the allen key as hard as possible in order to secure the guard rail to the step. In addition, we ran connecting bolts and nuts from the holes in one guard rail to the next, again to secure them to one another and prevent them from twisting. While all this worked and we were able to use the guard rails, it certainly adds a lot of work and time to the setup and breakdown of the stage steps. Either the steps need to be notched to accommodate the protrusion inside the bracket or steel pieces should be attached to the inside of the bracket so that the bracket fits flat and tight against the step!
